Love is a drug and we are addicted to it. There is no escape from the intoxicating sensation of being on a ‘high’ when we fall under its spell. The original winged boy with bow and arrow in hand was Eros, the Greek god of love and desire. He only later took on the Roman name of Cupid, and could shoot a golden arrow straight into your heart to render you helpless. This work illustrates the artist’s interpretation of the playful, mischievous cherub, with a bottle of whiskey instead of an arrow as his preferred weapon of choice. Love, like anything else, should be consumed in moderation if you want to avoid heartache.
